We realize this isn’t the most popular topic in Photography. It isn’t searched nearly as much as Luminosity Masking or the Clone Stamp Tool. But we know that if you begin to consider yourself an artist you will become a better photographer, period.
Tools won’t make you any better but a mindset shift will, that’s why we are so laser-focused on this topic and have been for quite some time.
Jim Welninski and I hear all kinds of things when we bring up the term “Artist” in a group of photographers. We are met with all kinds of false beliefs that are holding people back from their true potential as a photographer.
You might think that an artist and a photographer are different if so, this video is for you!
You may already be an artist and have considered yourself one for years… AWESOME! But we know how difficult it can be to remain on task and focused on your creativity, so this video is for you too!
We had a lot of fun making this video, but we hope, more than ever, that you gain some insight on how to battle the demons within that are holding you back from creating your best work! This video will help you cut through the lies that you hear or may tell yourself.
Nice job, thanks! Great to hear these thought in a video…
Thanks! We had fun 🙂
What a funny video this is! I liked it very much! And I do agree with your point-of-view about the 5 myths you bring up! Through the ‘work’ (watching the video) I get ‘insprired’ (once more) to go on to be an artist! Thanks!!!
Awesome! We are glad to hear it. If you liked this, then the Creative Mechanic II will be right up your alley. We held nothing back in the new installment.
Very funny. So when is the new course coming out really liked the first one
Thanks! Thursday 🙂 We are putting all the finishing touches on the page and the product now and have produced something that far exceeds Creative Mechanic I 🙂
Nice to see you together. Last year I was struggeling with creativity. After following your courses at F64 and working with the Artistry courses of Jim now I now know I have to work and not wait for something to happen:))
It’s a pitty I cann’t follow your course Jim but tomorrow I’m going into my bathroom not for cleaning but to take 20 pictures.
haha! have fun with that assignment!
Great vid and reminder. I appreciate that Jim put out those numbers.
Make me think that perhaps I share too much. Oh well it’s Art, not science!
Great video, funny! You always have great ideas. Beyond that you’re refocusing me and get me thinking about my work. I appreciate that you remind us that we are more then just a photographers. THX!
Really great comments and it was so good to see the two of you together again. Even the comedy was inspiring :-).
Can’t wait to see what’s in store with the upcoming Creative Mechanic II series.
Keep the fun happening and I’ll keep working on getting my butt into gear and striving to make every spare moment count … it’s a work in progress 🙁
Thank you for making me want to go create! My day job has little to do with my creative side, and I need that to feel fulfilled. The humor and honesty in this video is the kick in the rear that I needed!
Blake and Jim,
Thank you both! I am a huge fan and looking forward to the next videos.
Off to my bathroom camera in hand.
You two nailed it.
I love how you guys offer such great insight with equally great humor!
For me the myth about great places hit home, since as a card-carrying old lady, I can’t get to some of the “great-places-to-photograph.”
Jim’s idea made me realize that I don’t have to be somewhere else to work. I hesitate on the bathroom location, but I think I’ll focus on the cobwebs and dust bunnies!
I’d be out of luck with the bathroom assignment. There are no windows in mine, so if I went in and shut the door, I’d be in darkness. 🙂
Great video boys, good fun, important messages. Can’t wait for CM2.
Hi, great presentation. I’m an artist.. This has helped enforcing that that is what I am…. I like what I do.
