Yosemite Photography Workshop – May 2016
It has been nearly 5 years since my last visit to Yosemite. I was very young in my blogging and photography career and newly married to Sarah. We went on a quick vacation one weekend as it was only a 4 hour drive from our old apartment. It was a great experience with Sarah, but horrible for me as a photographer.
Sarah was 3 months pregnant with Michael, our now 4 year old, so walking travel was very light. To add to the lack of hiking, I was a very naive landscape photographer. Here are some of the ways I failed at my first Yosemite trip:
- I assumed one day would be plenty to shoot in Yosemite. That just so happened to be the day where there wasn’t a cloud in the sky. Which as I know now, makes for horrible landscape images. Thank goodness for Photoshop and sky replacements 🙂
- I went in October when the falls are the smallest due to the lack of rain and Spring snow melt.
- Looking at my exif data I shot most everything at f/3.5… who does that?
- I didn’t know what the filters were for on the front of the camera.
- I brought a 35mm equivalent lens, nothing really wide.
- I had no idea how to process HDR images
Needless to say, I need to go back and I want to go with you!
Yosemite Photography Workshop Details | May 15 – 21, 2016… Let’s Go!
Jake McCluskey, of Shutter Click Adventures, and I have been planning another amazing photo excursion. Just like the Cannon Beach trip this October, we intend to keep it small. This trip is exclusive to 5 photographers.
We decided to keep the group size small for a multitude of reasons:
- One on One instruction every day
- One on One Post Processing courses every evening
- Easy group discussions about where to shoot from day to day
- Manageable groups with 2 rental cars for optimal location coverage
- Small group dinners cooked right in our condo (Jake and I are amazing cooks, really, sometimes we talk more about the food we make for our families than photography!)
If you have never experienced Yosemite, this is the way to do it. We are going to spend an entire week together shooting and post processing. You will have unlimited access to both myself and Jake’s photo and post processing knowledge.
I really hope your calendar allows you to join us as this is going to be an incredible experience. However, it is very limited, so place your deposit in a timely manner to reserve your spot for the Yosemite Photography Workshop with Jake and Blake (that has a nice ring to it).
