Our mid-year update to Adobe Camera Raw is HUGE! While the features they included are seemingly small, their implementation in your workflow is incredible.
Last year we received masking in Adobe Camera Raw, which turned our local adjustment tools into selection powerhouses. But, they came with some frustrating limitations. The main limitation was the inability to copy an AI selection like skies or subjects and use them on other images.
Well, that is all changed! Check it out! To see the full list of changes, go to Adobe’s Blog.
Concise, clear summary — thanks, Blake!
Wonderful!!! Can’t wait to incorporate this into my workflow.
Thanks Blake.
Thank you, Blake, for this video! This ACR update seems really useful.
Explained well and visually clear.
Thanks for the explanation
Hello Blake,
Thanks for your videos, they are always helpful.
This copying of masks will be useful, but the new mask may need some fine tuning as you can see at 7:43 in the video, where part of the wallpaper appears as foreground in the copied mask.
Good eye! Yep, it brings EVERYTHING over. I should have mentioned that the Brush be deleted from the second image.
Hey Blake, your explanation and demonstrations of the new features in ACR / Lr are phenomenal! Thank you so much for this inspiring and learning tutorial!!!
Thanks Blake. Great explanation of an exciting new feature. And thank you Adobe! The copy and invert feature was a wish come true
Great overview. It’s also critical to have the “Support Amount Slider” enabled in the Advanced Settings which maybe everyone has already checked. I haven’t done that much myself with making presets so might have missed that, but I’m going to try out the new AI masking tools. Thanks for your great explanation!
I tried it in lightroom and when I copy the mask and paste it onto the next image, which is a little different composition, It doesn’t select the sky properly.. it’s the exact same mask as the first one just overlayed on the second image. I went back and watched the tutorial again and I noticed on the second bride & groom image when you applied to mask there is a large spot on the right that it doesn’t effect. It looks to be the part where the bouquet of flowers were on the first image.
You have to use either a Sky or Subject selection.
The reason the bouquet transferred over is that it takes everything in the preset or copied settings. No worries, I would just delete that brush mask selection in that case.
Also, ensure you are running the most up-to-date version of ACR or LR
Looks great!! Too bad you can not use any of these with PS CS6. I don’t want to be locked into a monthly payment.. especially as a senior.:(
You are really missing out on a lot of potential for only 9.99 a month.
