Well, it’s about time we get an update to an adjustment layer in Photoshop, isn’t it? We’ve had a LOT of AI updates in the last 4-5 years, but rarely any updates that impact our day-to-day workflow. Adobe updated the HSL Adjustment Layer and I gotta say, these updates are awesome!
The HSL tool was probably Photoshop’s most antiquated color tool until this update. It was useful for modifying the color properties of RGBCMY, but it was always missing something. For the longest time, I wished I could have a color tool that would select the exact color I wanted to work with, not some prescribed generic colors like RGB-CMY. Wel,l now we can!
I also wished there were a tool that could select the most dominant colors in my image, and if possible, allow me to edit within them. That seemed like a pipe dream that would never come to fruition, so much so that Tonee and I discussed such a thing and almost started putting pen to paper… but now we can do that in the HSL tool also.
This update seems so minor, but it’s huge and you’ll love it!
Oh and have you seen my color course? You’ll learn a ton about color, well beyond the HSL tool.
