I am in the market for a new DSLR camera. I want everything that my Olympus has not been. High ISO, high dynamic range markings, and a wide variety of lenses to choose from. Oh and did I fail to mention Full Frame instead of that 4/3 crop factor? The truth is, Olympus has spent so much time on the Interchangeable Lens Camera (ILC), also known as mirror-less, that they have forgotten about their flagship cameras and their flagship customers.
I am at the point of jumping ship but until recently had no idea what to look for in a digital camera outside of the Olympus Realm. With all of these Nikon D10000 and Canon 5d Mark iiiii’s it is hard to decide what will be the right camera for the next move. After posting about it on Facebook my friend Robert Belgrad, of Mason Dixon Photography, pointed me in the direction of Snapsort.com.
At Snapsort you have some awesome options for finding a new camera. You can tell Snapsort your price range and what you are looking for and it will find the right camera for you. I typed in all of my specs and Snapsort picked out the top 10 for me, Olympus wasn’t even listed…. Imagine that!
You can also compare camera models after you find a couple that are right for you. I put The Canon 6D up against the Nikon D600 to see which would be best suited form my needs. It turns out they are both pretty close on the spectrum, it may take me another month of research or so to decide, but at least I found a website that not only compares them, but compares them in a comprehensive way.
Snapsort conversationally describes the advantages and disadvantages that one camera has over another. It doesn’t simply put the ISO limitations next to one another, it tells you what the specific difference is between the two of them. It is a very intelligent website, I only wish it could make the decision for me!
