Determining Your Topaz Workflow
I have been working the last 4 years trying to develop the most efficient photo workflow. I have done this with many programs and plugins and would like to think I am becoming an efficiency expert. That is, of course, until I discover a new technique! It is a sick cycle that at some point I hope to crack for good. As of now, I am on the right track and have pretty much narrowed the entire process into 3 categories.
- Pre-Processing
- Post-Processing
- Artistic Processing
I am frequently asked about my Topaz Labs workflow. In a recent inquiry to the EverydayHDR subscribers, I received these questions:
What is the best order to use the Topaz products?
I am having a difficult time putting a Topaz workflow together, what is your solution for this conundrum?
Do you have a specific use for each Topaz product?
Blake –
Re workflow – I suffer from the same problem ! However, I’ve now limited the problem somewhat by focussing my efforts around the DZS etc, Topaz and NIK, but it’s a moving target alright 😉
Will the webinar be recorded and available for download for those of us in Europe & other parts where 4pm CST is a wee bit late at night / early in the morning ?
Regards
steve
Hi Blake,
I would love to learn your workflow for Topaz. I really like their products. The problem is that I don’t have Photoshop. Do you have anything like your workflow system for Lightroom 5?
Thanks
George
You could probably use the same concept for Lightroom, I prefer Photoshop, so I dont have anything Lightroom specific. I am sorry!
Blake,
Another great webinar. I Have had Topaz since the beginning and now have both of your Zone Systems. I am learning. Thanks for the help with Color. Fantastic.

Awesome to hear! I really appreciate your feedback!
If you have Lightroom and use Topaz Labs’ PhotoFXLab, you keep the full power of LR with the addition of being able to use layers, blend modes, opacities, and masks with your plug ins from Topaz Labs and other developers.
Very true. Photofxlab is pretty powerful as a standalone program.
Of all of the webinars I’ve watched this is by far the best and and most informative for me. I suppose this can be used for landscapes as well?
Thank you
That is great to hear! Yes landscapes as well. Some of the Topaz adjustments may need to be toned down. Like the detail adjustments, because they were pretty strong to recover the lost details on the macro shot.
