Well it has been 4 awesome years with my Olympus E-30, but it is time to retire her. I bought my E-30 when I was a semi-hobbyist and it took me very well into my “Pro” days. I have a nice little nest egg of lenses and flash equipment, but I have to put all of that aside due to Olympus’ unreliability to produce a quality full frame camera, or even a new DSLR for that matter!
I will be purchasing a new camera this week and have been torn between the Nikon D600 and the Canon 6D. Both of which are priced nearly the same on Amazon so I am debating which I should go with. I like the idea of Canon as I have always liked their product, I started out with an AE-1 that my Mother handed down to me. However, most of the comparisons I look at point to the Nikon D600.
I am a bit skeptical though as Nikon has been having several issues with their D600 mirror flinging lubricant onto the sensor.
What do you think, Canon or Nikon?
Either way I am jumping ship from Olympus. She did me well until now, but it is time to upgrade!

I have a D600 and yes, there were sensor spot issues. Nikon repaired it under warranty and it’s fine now. I understand that newer production models don’t have the problem. I love the D600 but make sure you get good lenses.
I’m a Nikon guy so I say get the D600. I’m curious as to what happened to the eyepiece on your Oly?
Thanks Mike. Well it always fell off so one day in the midst of frustration I super glued it on… Apparently that was only temporary too! I still have it, I just shoot without it.
Spend the big money on the glass.
Buy a D7100 and you won’t be disappointed.

I used to shoot Nikon, but changed over to Canon a few years ago.
I have the Canon 6D and it’s a great camera you won’t regret buying it.
