Every month on HDR Insider I host a little friendly competition to spark the interest of the member. It is not about one person being better than another, it is about rewarding those who took the time to learn new things, experiment, and ultimately make themselves a better HDR photographer.
The basic idea behind the Projects goes a little something like this. I provide the brackets (much like an HDR Concert) and HDR Insider Members can download them and work on them how they see fit. They upload a comment with a link to their work and I select one person to win a $50 Amazon Gift Card.
This month was a little different. Instead of offering the Brackets, I wanted to see what festive images the members of the community could come up with. The submissions were great! HDR Insider member, Dan Ruf, came up with one awesome shot taken on his iPhone and run through a slew of post processing steps:
“This was a capture with my iphone using the 645Pro camera app and processed with Snapseed before moving it to Photoshop CS6. Additional processing was done in Alien Skin “Blow Up”, NIK Color Efex Pro for my base image. Then I used JixiPix Snow Daze and JixiPix “Photo Artista Oil” for two separate images and combined them with the base image as layers and adjusted the opacity to bring the base layer in at about 30% opacity.”
