I know what I said about AI in the past and I still mean it 🙂 AI cannot make educated artistic decisions, HOWEVER, in some cases, it can provide us with a decent starting point.
In today’s video, I will simplify one of the most difficult compositing techniques – color matching. I will show you two methods. One method is the manual method where you blend all the colors in the background image and apply them to the subject using blend modes.
The second method uses the new Harmonize Neural Filter and it does a pretty decent job of helping color match a subject to its environment in a composite photo.  Both methods have a place in the composite workflow and in some cases, both methods may be used simultaneously.
From the Rudis family, we wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 🙂
Hi Blake, just a reminder to get the cabin roof taking on some of the colors coming in from the illuminated areas.
Merry Christmas
It appears to me that your son is sidelit and the background is backlit, so the lighting angles do not quite match properly. Otherwise, a great idea of using AI in compositing.
PS. I plan to rejoin f64 Elite early in the New Year, I had dropped out in the fall because I didn’t have time to take advantage, but I’m going to have more time.
PS2. Sorry to say this, but I’m a Steelers fan so you and I will be on opposite sides this Sunday!
It helped to see a few different approaches to this color matching. Thx for the demo!
Thank you, Blake.
Happy New Year!
