Oh there are so many more than 6…
A few days ago I reviewed Perfect Effects 9. I mentioned several things that Perfect Effects has going for it, but now I want to showcase them in a quick video tutorial. The funny thing is, when I set out and planned this tutorial I initially called it “5 things I love about Perfect Effects”, but I kept stumbling on things I loved that I had to make it 6. however, that was after several scribbled out notes that really should have made this something like 12 or 13.
Here is a really quick list of the 6 things (I will go over them in greater detail in the video):
- Ease of Integration with Photoshop from the setup to the workflow.
- The Layout of the Interface
- The Masking Options and Hot Keys
- The Perfect Brush and Quick Mask
- The Array of Relevant Filters
- The Protection and Blending Options

Thanks for an enlightening tutorial on Perfect Effects. The first thing I learned was that you can put the On1 panel in the regular PS panel. That makes it all the more simple to integrate the Perfect Suite 9 into the workflow. There are so many things to learn about the Perfect Suite, I wish I had 30 hours a day to work with it.
Thanks for watching! I agree it is pretty powerful stuff! I love what it can do to a single RAW file and just how well it can enhance a tone mapped image. Really a great program!
I can not open OnOne 9 from photoshop cc 2014!
All options to open a file in perfect effects 9 from I can see and klick on, but it doesn´t open!
What´s the problem?! Can you help?
I can run perfect effects 9 outside of lightroom and also as a standalone-program. But as I told, I can not open a file in perfect effects 9 outside from photoshop cc 2014, although i see all the options in photoshop cc under file… and windows – extensions…
Hmm, I am not sure what is wrong here. Did you try File > Automate > onOne?
Wonder if it is that 2014 is html and cc is Flash based? Just wondering…
Yes I did, Blake. But with no function after that.
Seems I have to contact the onone support soon.
Is that the full onONe Suite you have on your machine…?
I am interested in your book ‘HDR & Perfect Effects 9’, however it seems, from the advertising, to concentrate on Photoshop which I do not have. I do own the stand-alone version of PE9; plus GIMP, Lightzone and PhotoImpact 12 (PI12 is very old but has many useful features).
OK, I’ll stop wandering off topic. My question is will your book be useful to me or do I need Photoshop to benefit from it?
I should add that I am 78 years old and have no wish to invest on PS and Lightroom.
Thank you in advance for your response.
Regards.
Jeff
No problem, Jeff!
This is not a book, it is a tutorial series with Videos. I do about 90% of the processing in Perfect Effects with only about 10% in Photoshop. So you could probably replace all of the Photoshop stuff with whatever other programs you use. So to answer the question, yes you could very well use this without Photoshop and still obtain a solid base of information on Perfect Effects. Approximately 1 hour of the 1 hour and 40 minutes is in Perfect Effects, about 25 minutes on HDR and 15 minutes in Photoshop.
