I know I am a huge Photoshop buff here on EverydayHDR, but every once in a while I like to give some insight on other programs that I find to be very helpful for beginners. All you advanced Photoshop guys/gals can probably sit this one out! However, if you own PhotoFXLab by Topaz Labs, I suggest you look into this High Pass Sharpen Technique I stumbled upon the other day while processing some photos in it.
I took the idea of the High Pass Filter in Photoshop and found a way to duplicate it for PhotFXLab users. My go to sharpen is the High Pass Sharpen layer in Photoshop, I use it all of the time. There is no reason why PhotoFXLab users cannot enjoy its power as well!
In this tutorial I also go into a little bit of post processing as well. Not a whole lot but you can see it in the before and after shot below.
For Blake, it's all about the art and process synergy. He dives deep into complex topics and makes them easy to understand through his outside-the-box thinking so that you can use these tricks in your workflow today!

Blake, There are many programs that seem to be redundant, with their various plug-ins. Have you had the same feeling beginning this wonderful adventure. At times I can go to and fro, something new on the horizon just to realize new at times is not better. Blake, I love your work, but than again doing something you love is never work. God Bless
I can see where you are coming from with that comment. A lot of the programs are all very similar and do much of the same thing. I think what it is starting to boil down to is price, a user friendly interface, and a smooth operating workflow machine. I like to look at programs like photoFXlab because it is very affordable for the power it offers. I think it is the gateway software to Photoshop especially with the plug-ins you can begin to stack up!
