Use Color Theory to Build Experiences for  your viewer.

You’ve  heard the phrase, “I don’t  take photos, I make them” right?  Well, its cliché,  its overused, and just about anyone who has heard it has said it at one point.  Yep, finger pointing at this guy too 🙂  I get what it  means,  but I think we can have more success with our photos  if we focus on building experiences for our viewer. We can do that with Color Theory.

Since 2014 I have been spouting on about color theory, color grading and various color tips.   But lately, it seems all of that has been pointing to one phrase that has been sticking in my mind like a nail,  “Build Experiences”.  Color is a powerful tool and it can be used poorly, for sure,  but I’d say it has the most impact on our viewer when used appropriately.  YES,  even more impact than composition!

Now, you don’t have to go beating people over the head with color to get it right, either,  don’t get me wrong.   In the example below,  colors from within the image were sampled to draw more attention to the light in the composition.  It can even be that subtle.

In today’s video, I am going to show you three ways you can start using Color and Color Theory concepts to start building experiences for your viewer.

Of course, I am on a color kick this month as I just released the fourth, and most phenomenal,  iteration off my color grading panel, Palette Effects.

If you want to get an incredible grasp on color, artistic expression,  and color theory then this is the education and software for you!
